Mrs Shashya Diyapaththugama

PhD Student

Mrs. Shashya Diyapaththugama will be joining the Griffith University in 2023 as a PhD student to join the multi-centric Picky Eating Project in Australia for examining environmental and phenotypic determinants of picky eating in children and adults. Mrs. Shashya had completed her Bachelor degree B.Sc. Hons in Food Science and Nutrition, with a First Class in 2021. At the completion of the bachelor degree she was a recipient of the Faculty Awards, Deans List award and the award for the Best Performance in the Applied Nutrition specialization in B.Sc. in Food Science and Nutrition degree program at Wayamba University of Sri Lanka. She had then completed her internship for one year as a clinical dietitian/nutritionist. Mrs. Shashya is employed as a Lecturer(probationary) at the Department of Applied Nutrition, Faculty of Livestock, Fisheries and Nutrition, Wayamba University of Sri Lanka since 2022.

Mrs. Shashya holds full membership of the Nutrition Society of Sri Lanka, Young Scientists Forum, National Science and Technology Commission, Sri Lanka, and the membership of Dietitians’ Association of Sri Lanka.

Her research interests are towards nutrition and dietetics and has presented in international and national conferences. She had carried out research related to determining the perceptions on herbs, functional food and nutraceuticals; mothers’ perceptions and behavior on primary school child nutrition; and determining the effects of cereal-and-legume-based breakfast cereals on glycemic response and long-term weight loss.
