Dr Yang Wai Yew

Dr Yang Wai Yew received her BSc (Hons) in Dietetics from the National University of Malaysia, Masters with Distinction from the University of Sheffield, United Kingdom and completed her doctoral studies at The University of Newcastle, Australia. She is now a Senior Lecturer in the Division of Nutrition and Dietetics, International Medical University, Malaysia. Wai Yew has 8 years’ experience as a dietitian in a private hospital in Malaysia where she was the Head of Department and Lead Dietitian for the paediatric services in a multidisciplinary team of paediatricians and allied health professionals. She provides dietetics services for children with under- and over-nutrition issues as well as those with special needs. Her research interest is to investigate how children eat and the role of family in promoting family health and nutrition. She focuses in finding the factors associated with child health and nutrition and formulating effective interventions in the Malaysian context. She has published more than 10 journal articles as the lead author and two book chapters as co-author, received several national awards and won two publication prizes.
